Chefs in training cook up a reduction recipe for culinary arts.

In the Kitchen

What better way for students to obtain firsthand knowledge of various aspects of the culinary and hospitality industry than by working side-by-side with local chefs in their own high school kitchen? With a state-of-the-art kitchen located right at their school, Valley High School students have the opportunity to learn the importance of teamwork in the kitchen through interdisciplinary projects lead by industry mentors volunteering their time and knowledge. See below for some of the certificates being cooked up in the kitchen with this Academy!

Outside of the Kitchen

To gain hands-on industry experience, Academy students are encouraged to participate in opportunities outside of the classroom kitchen. Local industry partners are cooking up hot opportunities, including site-tours of their 5-star Yelp restaurants, killer internships, and even one-of-a-kind job placements throughout Orange County. Students also provide catering services to the community and highlight their skills at work-based service events, working side by side with celebrity chefs.

In addition, Culinary Arts & Hospitality Academy participants are heating up local and national competitions by making other culinary teams sweat with their crazy cool culinary skills!

Competitions include nationally recognized PROSTART and local-noteworthy Cooking Up Change which promotes critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration, and other employable skills.
