In the Classroom
With the healthcare industry being one of the largest employers, now more than ever, this industry is in need of a skilled workforce and the High School Inc. Academy is doing just that! With state-of-the-art medical and dental classrooms located on campus that include mock patient rooms, exam rooms, dental chairs, and x-ray machines, students have access to real-world experiences and training right in their classroom.
Through the help of expert healthcare professionals, academy participants are surrounded by hands-on connected learning opportunities in both medical and dental, including assessing and properly handling mock medical scenarios, taking patient vitals, phlebotomy training, caring for electronic babies, and more.
Outside of the Classroom
Although the classrooms are accurately realistic, students gain a completely different experience by having the vital opportunity to personally step outside of the classroom and see into the current healthcare industry. Through the gracious participation of Orange County community industry partners, academy students have a first-hand look at real-working hospitals and clinical offices through site tours, internships and even mock surgeries displaying the abundance of specialists and opportunities for them throughout the healthcare profession!
Aiding in additional opportunities outside of the classroom is Healthcare Occupational Students of America (HOSA) Club which offers academy students regional and state competitions in areas such as medical terminology, CPR & First Aid, sports medicine, medical photography, and a variety of other medical field subjects.
